Melling’s Civic Awards 2015

On Sunday 18th December the community of Melling, along with The Mayor and Mayoress of Sefton Cllr. Stephen Kermode and Mrs Gwen Kermode, Bill Esterson MP, Ward Councillors and Police Inspector Phil Hatton, joined Melling Parish Council at the 2015 Civic Awards to celebrate the outstanding work that goes on in Melling.

The service which took place at St Kentigern Church, Melling  was a celebration of our diverse and unique community which was visible through the coming together of local groups and individuals from Melling and the wider area.    The jubilant singing by the Baptist Community Choir raised the roof and spirits alike whilst the young people from the Melling Scout Association did a commendable job of trouping of the flags.
After the service everyone was welcomed back to Caunce Hall for the Awards Ceremony where they enjoyed appetising food and drink in a real community atmosphere.

The 2015 Melling Civic Award was presented Jo Hassoun for the difference she makes to the lives of the people who she comes in contact with through her work with the Melling Baptist Community Project.  Described as being an inspirational pillar of the community whose caring demeanour and willingness to do anything for anyone makes her a true part of the community.
